Davies Implements Joins the Wood Protection Association
We’re pleased to announce that Davies Implements Limited has joined the Wood Protection Association (WPA) as a treated wood reseller of the Octopost fencing system. Our membership was featured in the WPA’s October newsletter, alongside fellow Octopost stockist JF Supplies of Aberdeenshire.
The WPA is the UK’s leading authority on wood preservation and treatment standards. Joining gives our customers added confidence that the treated timber we supply is backed by recognised industry expertise.
About Octopost
Octopost is made in Sweden by Octowood, part of the Rundvirke Skog Group. Each octagonal post is precision machined from a single pine thinning, grown slowly in sustainably managed forests near the Arctic Circle. The half-octagonal rails are machined from the posts themselves.
For long-term durability, every Octopost product is pre-treated with an oil-based preservative, either creosote or Tanasote, an oil-based copper wood preservative. Treatment is carried out at Octowood’s own factory under an independent quality control procedure that complies with Nordic Standards.
The system is built for agricultural, equestrian, estate and rural applications, where customers value sustainable materials, low environmental impact and comes with a 25 year guarantee.
Working towards WPA Benchmark approval
In the UK, preservative treatment quality is measured against British Standard BS8417. Octopost is currently being assessed for “WPA Benchmark approved product” certification, which would verify that it meets the 30-year desired service life set out in BS8417.
