The UK Government’s new Feed-in Tariffs (FITs)
came into effect for Great Britain on 1st April 2010. This scheme will reward
householders, businesses and communities who generate their own electricity from
renewable or low carbon sources such as wind turbines.
Those who install a wind turbine will now benefit
from the new tariff in three ways; lower energy bills, payments from electricity
they feed back into the grid, and further payment from the FIT for all the
energy they generate. You would receive income for every kwh of electricity
that the turbine produces irrespective of whether you consume it or not. For
example, given an average annual wind speed of 6 m/s (metres per second) the
Evance R9000 will produce just over 13,000 kWh (units) per year and the
50kW Endurance will produce around 168,000 kWh per year.

Depending on your wind speed, the payback period
of the turbines could be covering their own costs until your
payback period is complete (approx. 4- 9 years for the R9000 and 3- 5 years for
the 50kW Endurance).
Under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme
(MCS) Evance customers are eligible for Feed-in Tariffs.
